After a few months of idleness since returning from Chile, I’m determined to get back on track and finish the many art projects I left behind after Christmas. The weather is improving, the lovely sunshine has returned to my studio window, and I have far too many ideas waiting to move forward. But first, I need to finish what I started — and I say need because I truly do.

A few months ago, while visiting my in-laws in France, I took advantage of their incredible woodworking workshop to build my own wooden canvases. I used and abused my father-in-law’s machines and managed to save quite a bit of money by making them myself. They’re not as perfect as the mass-produced ones, but I honestly love the result. If anything, I feel they add an extra layer of value to the finished pieces, which are slowly shifting from purely aesthetic objects into something with more meaning.
That said, it wasn’t easy. Whatever money I saved by building them myself, I probably spent on food, and the whole process cost me a fair amount of sweat and headaches. Even so, I’m proud of the result, and these canvases will now serve as the foundation for a new series of works.
At the moment, I’m working on some functional wall clocks featuring original paper-mosaic artwork, as well as a collection of homoerotic pieces that may eventually become a series. Since I mainly show my work online, giving the collection a name feels a bit too much… in the end, they’re simply sexy images that express what I like — my kinks, my desires. But if I had to name it, it would probably be “This Is What I Like.”
