FAMILIAR PLACES
This ongoing collection began more than a decade ago, after years without making artwork, and mostly out of necessity. At the time I was unemployed and hoped art could become my source of income. It didn’t happen, but the work stayed with me.
Inspired by familiar places in Thanet, London, and nearby towns, these pieces started as simple products in my mind, and for a long time I never showed them, thinking they had no real value.
Now I see them differently. I see the hours of work, the patience, the consistency, and the need to keep creating. They were a form of self-therapy — an escape into a world where scraps of coloured paper from old magazines could become images people recognise.
And that still makes me proud.
