GETTING READY FOR A NEW COLLECTION

with No Comments

I finally got my order—of tons—of wood panels so I can get started with a new collection of portraits called “Man Crush”, and I thought I should share that I’ll be creating portraits of gorgeous men that have caught my eye, attempting to immortalize the looks that, in my eyes, make them attractive. This may sound like a bit of a random theme, but I really want to use my artwork to express and share how I feel facing the world as a gay man.

For years I tried to hide who I am by wearing a “masc” mask, carefully curating the way I speak, look, and even the way I walk not to look ‘too gay’ an pass as straight. I suppose that the fear of rejection and bullying got the best of me and caused damage that is very difficult to undo. This may still carry a bit of trauma inside me, and by telling you through my artwork: “Yes, I fancy these men,” I hope to take a little step towards the collapse of my self-censorship and show myself as I truly am.

I already have my panels ready: borders painted and neat, the #ArtResin on the shelf, the recycled coloured paper selected and ready to be cut, the glue and the inspiration… I only need some spare time to carry on with this mission, but I’m determined to use this space to share a bit more about myself through my work.

In the meantime, remember that I also do some pieces on commission. Therefore, if you’d like me to include a personalised piece in this collection, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Let’s check some pictures and talk business… who knows, you may also become one of my “Man Crushes.”
