WRAPPING OUR THREE-WAY

with No Comments

When Nadia first talked about her idea of collaborating with David, and then with me, I never imagined how much fun this was going to be.

I’m not really sure what I expected to come out of this, but I knew that working with friends felt like a safe thing to do. Nadia and David are two amazing artists, and I feel privileged to have been able to collaborate with them on such a fun project.

From the planning, while having rhubarb &custard tea with peach & caramel cake, to our photoshoot in my living room, trying not to laugh so we could get the right images, the process of creating and seeing each other’s progress, to then seeing the artwork hanging on the walls of the New Salon Gallery, it felt right all the way through. Our artworks, different in style and medium, mimetised when put together, creating a dialogue between the images that told a story we could never tell using just words.

Yes, the imagery was quite clear in its depiction of a threesome. It was daring, sensual and revealing, but the dialogue underneath the paper cuts and the paint strokes talked about a much stronger connection that could go beyond the idea of sex. It was about trust, tenderness, feeling safe, being open and being seen.

Exhibition 360 View

We, as artists, were able to see each other, to hold each other, not just as naked bodies, but as generous spirits that needed to be touched, held and explored. Our work is loaded with emotions that, when seen together, trespass the canvases and sneak into you in a way that can make you feel part of the experience.

This artwork was created exclusively for this show, and the effort paid off, because its beauty could only exist through the love and passion we put into it. It was a great effort, juggling life and work, each of us on our own, but ultimately connecting in a way that we didn’t really expect. Three-Way is not only a set of artworks about threesomes and sex; it’s about connection and trust, friendship and pleasure, and the vulnerability that comes with being truly seen.

This week at Salon was incredible. So many faces, so many reactions, so many conversations with visitors who added extra layers to the intimacy of this show. And also, as friends, the show brought us closer together, igniting the desire to share the work again and again, in different venues in the future.

A big thank you to everyone who made this show possible. To the Salon Team and Margate Pride, thank you for giving us the opportunity to take part and share our work. To our partners, families and friends, who have gone above and beyond to support us. To each other, of course, for always being there, pushing and pulling us forward and helping to make this show happen.

And most importantly, to you — everyone who took the time to visit us, bought a print or an original piece, liked our posts, followed us on social media, helped to spread the word, and in one way or another, became part of our cheeky Three-Way.
