MARGATE PRIDE ART MAP 2024

with No Comments

A small achievement, but an achievement nonetheless: this year I’ve been included in the Margate Pride Festival as part of the Pride Art Map. Some of my work will be on display in the window of Lovelys Gallery in Cliftonville, and I couldn’t be more excited.

After taking part in the Festival of Cats last April — the first time I ever showed my work in a physical space — I caught the bug and wanted to do more. Being part of the Pride Art Map feels like a big personal step in taking my art practice more seriously, so a huge thank you to Margate Pride and to Lovelys for giving me the opportunity this year.

At Lovelys I’m showing some older pieces featuring Margate landmarks, alongside a couple of Queer Kisses. The artworks will also be available for sale, so if you feel like taking one home, I’d be very grateful.

Lovelys is just one of more than thirty venues taking part across Margate and Cliftonville: Galleries, shops, cafés, restaurants, bars, and windows will be hosting exhibitions by queer artists. From Margate Arts Club on Northdown Road to The Margate School on the High Street, from Tom Thumb Theatre on the Eastern Esplanade to Little Swift on Marine Drive — CT9 is filled with beautiful, joyful, and powerful art as Pride season begins.

The festival launched on Friday 2nd August, and as the organisers put it: “This project is more than an art event — it’s a call to action for visibility, resilience, and joy,” so come and join this celebration with us.

HAPPY PRIDE EVERYONE!
